The Comparison chart compares different organizational units, such as business units, projects, customer groups, or sales teams. Comparing is also useful for auditing targets. Since targets change over time, this analysis helps set new targets in new areas or new levels in the organization.

Prerequisites

To use the Create Associated Report link, you have access to the Reports component and your administrator has given your application group Display Advanced Report Settings permission.

Features

The Comparison chart has these features:

  • The Comparison chart displays a trend chart of dimension members over a period of time for a standard KPI. The Comparison chart compares results for the actual values of the standard KPI across a dimension's members.

If you uncovered business problems using the Drill report, you can further analyze them here to see overall direction relative to other parts of the organization. While the Drill report shows a single slice in time across the organization, the Comparison chart shows trends for multiple members of the organization.

  • You can change the graph options by clicking Graph Options.

    For information, see Chart Settings.

  • You can drill down on a charted member. The chart is updated to display the next lower level series members from the selected member.

  • You can drill up on a charted member. The series members change from current level to the next higher level of that hierarchy.

  • You can select which members of the focus dimension to chart using Graph Items. By default, the first six members of the dimension are charted.

  • You can change the dimension on which to focus. The Total member of the dimension is displayed by default.

  • You can create a Navigator report in the Reports component by clicking Create Associated Report. The Navigator report shows the members of the focus dimension down the table. The actual measure for the selected KPI is displayed across the table for the latest date. If you filtered any dimensions in the Scorecard component, those filters are retained in the Navigator report.

  • You can modify the Y-axis using Fit Y Axis to Data to set a minimum value based on the smallest available data rather than starting at zero. This provides a more realistic chart of data.
