Custom Image Mode
You use Custom Image mode to import an image and overlay hotspots that link to the vision, the mission, perspectives, objectives, and other text items. Hotspots are invisible in the published diagram, but allow users to click on a part of the custom image and drilldown into the Detail page for the mapped item. Custom Image mode is good for any goal, process, map or organizational diagram for which you have a pre-existing image.
You can also use this mode to build a high-level diagram that links to the current context as well as to other contexts as defined in the Administrator. In addition, Custom Image mode lets you add hotspot links to both standard and index KPIs.
You cannot combine an imported image with Auto-Layout or Design Manually modes.
Custom Image mode supports the following file formats: .BMP, .GIF, .JPEG, .JPG or .PNG. You can use only one imported image per diagram.
We recommend that the diagram image be no larger than 930 by 600 pixels. With larger images, users are required to scroll to see the full image in the Strategy window.
Use this mode to do all of the following:
Select the items from the strategy that you want in your diagram. If you have already created Text Items, they are listed here as well. The selected objects function as hotspots on your image.
Add URL links. In Custom Image mode, only the URL is active as a hotspot; any associated text is invisible.
Adjust the hotspot objects so that they are positioned over the appropriate areas of the imported image. Use Properties for perspectives, Properties for objectives, Properties for mission, Properties for vision, Properties for text item, Properties for context, and Properties for KPI to change the shape and color of individual objects. You can also use settings in these functions to size and move the object based on pixels. Make sure the Arrow button is off or that is not selected.
To start Custom Image mode, choose . If this is the first time you are using a custom image for this diagram, you are prompted to import a diagram image. Click OK, then in the Open dialog, browse to the location for your image. If you have already imported and saved the image, it appears in the Diagram Manager window.
To select items to include in the diagram, choose .
To change the image, choose and in the Custom Image section of Diagram Properties, click the folder button to import a new image for the diagram.
To save your changes, choose , or to exit without saving, choose .
Caution
Do not choose Auto-Layout mode after working with Custom Image, or you will lose all the work you have done to overlay hotspot objects onto your image. Auto-Layout organizes diagram objects into a predefined layout and cannot be undone.
