Preferences allow you to set defaults and control behavior of certain aspects in the application.

Procedure

To set preferences, click Preferences in any component.

The Set Preferences dialog box is displayed.

What you need to know

Display the Set Preferences dialog box to set preferences.

From the Welcome screen, click Set your preferences.

Or, from any component, click Preferences.

Or from the Context Map, click the link to set preferences.

Specify whether you want to always start the application with the Welcome page, the Context Map page, or the default tab and default context.

In the General section, click either Welcome page, Context Map page or Default tab.

Start with the Welcome page when you want to have a choice about the context. Start with the Context Map page when you want to always have a choice about which context and which component of that context to start with. Start with the default tab when you always want to start with a particular tab and context.

Set a default context to appear each time you start a new session.

In the General section, from the Set default context drop-down list, select a context.

At the start of the session, if you set the Welcome page to appear, that context is selected. If you choose the default tab to appear at startup, the default context is used.

Set a default component to appear each time you start a new session.

In the General section, from the Set default tab drop-down list, select a component.

At the start of the session, if you set the Welcome page to appear, then the default tab is displayed after you click Start. If you choose the default tab to appear at startup, the default tab appears immediately.

Set the default language for the text in the application.

In the General section, from the Set default language drop-down list, select a language.

You must make sure your browser is set to the appropriate regional setting.

Set the maximum number of alerts to retain in the My Alerts section of the Home component.

In the Home section, from the Alerts to display drop-down list, select the maximum number of alerts to retain.

If you reach the maximum number in the Home component, newer alerts are retained as older alerts are removed.

Set which subcomponent is displayed by default in the Strategy component.

In the Strategy section, from the Set default tab drop-down list, select a default Strategy tab.

Depending on how your strategy administrator set up your Strategy component, you may not have all the subcomponents mentioned for the Strategy tab.

Set which view is displayed by default in the Scorecard component.

In the Scorecard section, from the Set default tab drop-down list, select a default Scorecard view.

Specify whether to display a legend in the Scorecard component.

In the Scorecard section, select Display Scorecard Legend.

If your objectives are not yet associated with KPIs and you are not yet displaying any status indicators, then it is a good idea to hide the legend.

When Scorecard Overviews is set as the default Scorecard tab, specify which rows layout to display.

In the Scorecard section, while Scorecard Overviews is displayed, select a layout from the Default Rows Layout drop-down list.

Display the default dashboard whenever you display the Dashboard component.

In the Dashboard section, select Display Default Dashboard.

The default dashboard is set by the context administrator.

Set up your own default dashboard to be displayed whenever you display the Dashboard component.

In the Dashboard section, select Override Default Dashboard and then select the dashboard to display from the drop-down list.

Display the default report whenever you display the Reports component.

In the Report section, select Display Default Reports.

The default report is set by the context administrator.

Set up your own default report to be displayed whenever you display the Reports component.

In the Report section, select Override Default Reports and then select the report to display from the drop-down list.
