You can add a comment or reply for the objects in the current component. For example, if you are in the Reports component, you can add comments and replies about reports.

Prerequisites

Your application group has Create Comments permission to create comments and replies. If you do not see an Add link in the component, or if you do not see a New or Reply button in the Comments dialog box (which is accessed by the View link), then you do not have the ability to create comments.

What you need to know

Add a comment

Click Add to display the Comments dialog box, and then click New.

When adding a comment, you can control whether the comment will expire and the date on which it will expire.

You must select at least one application group who can review this comment.

You can display a list of all the members in a group. This list shows all groups, even the ones you are not a member of.

When you select a group, the members of the selected group can see this comment. As the author of the comment, you can also see this comment even if you are not a member of the group that you assigned to the comment.

If you enter a URL, it appears as a live title link in the information window when you select the comment in the Comment dialog box.

Reply to a comment

Click Add to display the Comments dialog box. Select the comment, and then click Reply.

Once a comment has a reply, the comment owner can no longer edit the comment.

Edit a comment

In the Comments dialog box, select the comment and then click Edit to display a dialog box where you can edit the comment.

When editing comments, you can filter on all items, including the context and type.

The user (owner) who creates a comment can edit that comment only if it has no replies associated with it. No one can edit replies.

Delete a comment or reply

In the Comments dialog box, select the comment and then click Delete.

The user (owner) who creates a comment can delete that comment only if it has no replies associated with it. The user (owner) who creates a reply cannot delete that reply.
