Trend Chart Panel Development
Use a Trend Chart panel to chart the trend of up to 10 dimension members over a time period.
The Add Dashboard Panel dialog box or the Edit Dashboard Panel dialog box is displayed.
When creating a Trend Chart panel, you enter the following information:
Feature |
Description |
|---|---|
Specify the items to chart on the Y-axis |
You can select up to 10 metrics or dimension members to chart. When selecting metrics, do not select one with text values. Text metrics do not appear correctly in the report. For information about selecting dimension members, see Dimension Member Selection in Select Dialog Boxes. |
Set filters |
You can filter dimensions by one member. For information about selecting dimension members, see Dimension Member Selection in Select Dialog Boxes. |
Set the layout of the panel |
You set one of the following types of layouts:
|
Set minimum and maximum values on the Y-axis, and specify the number of decimal places |
For information, see Setting Chart Axis Minimums and Maximums. |
Add a secondary Y-axis |
It is useful to add a secondary Y-axis when you are charting the trend of two or more disparate metrics in a line chart. For information, see Charting a Secondary Y Axis in a Charting Panel. |
Specify the type of chart |
Select whether to display a bar chart or a line chart. |
Scale large values |
If the numbers in the report are large and appear to be merging between columns, you can scale the values. The scale affects all the columns of data except percentages. For example, if you scale numbers such as 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 by 1,000, all the numbers are divided by 1,000 and appear as 1,000 and 2,000. The label at the bottom of the panel identifies Scale: 000's. |
To add a Trend Chart panel to the dashboard, select Trend Chart from the Module Type drop-down list.
