The Administrator provides functions to accommodate all types of administrator users, including the following:

  • Upper management who communicate the strategy across the organization, monitor the performance of the organization, create and delegate initiatives required to ensure effective execution of the strategy, and create operational reviews and review operational reviews created by others.

  • IT personnel who administer the system, update users, and update application content.

  • Risk managers who access and review strategy management data to ensure the highest sufficient resources are allocated to understanding and mitigating risks that impact strategic objectives.

  • Other managers and employees who update metrics, create and update initiative status, monitor the status of scorecards, and create and review operational reviews.

Permissions are assigned to application groups using the Manage Application Groups link in the Administration section. Depending on the permissions given to your application group, you can have one or more administrative permissions. If certain aspects of the panel are grayed out and unavailable, it means that you have not been assigned permission to use those aspects of the strategy management application.

Any application group can have any combination of the following administrative roles:

Strategy Management Administrator

The administrator or system administrator is someone who has been given administrative permissions for SAP NetWeaver CE and Interactive Publisher and the Administrator. This user is sometimes called the administrator of Interactive Publisher or pipadmin. This user may configure the software components as well as perform administrative tasks in the Administrator.

The administrator must be added to at least one application group. The administrator adopts all the assignments for the application group in terms of reporting permissions, administrative permissions, and access to the strategy management tabs with these exceptions:

  • The administrator has full access into the Administrator regardless of any settings in the Administrative Permissions section of the Manage Application Groups link in the Administration section. Other users in the application group adhere to the options selected in the Administrative Permissions section.

  • The administrator can delete anyone's comments or replies (and a comment author can delete their own comment). This special privilege is unrelated to the Create Comments setting in the Reporting Permissions section of the Manage Application Groups link, where the administrator and users in the application group may or may not be able to create comments depending on the Create Comments setting.

  • If the application group has access to the Reports and Dashboards tabs, and also has the Display Advanced Report Settings permission, the administrator can create public reports and dashboards and edit, rename, delete, or save other users' reports or dashboards. The administrator has these privileges even if the Save Public setting is not selected for the application group. If the application group does not have access to the Reports or Dashboards tab, the administrator also does not have access to those tabs and therefore cannot create or save reports or dashboards.

Scorecard administrator

Scorecard administrators are users in an application group who have been given the administrative Create/Edit Scorecards permission. Scorecard administrators can use all aspects of the Scorecard section in the Administrator.

Context administrator

Context administrators are any users in an application group who have been given the administrative Create/Edit Contexts permission. Context administrators can use all aspects of the Contexts section in the Administrator.

Strategy administrator

Strategy administrators are any users in an application group who have been given the administrative Create/Edit Strategy permission. Strategy administrators can use all aspects of the Strategy section in the Administrator.

Objective administrator

Objective administrators are any users in an application group who have been given the administrative Create/Edit Objectives permission. Objective administrators can use all aspects of Perspectives and Objectives link in the Libraries section of the Administrator.
