The SAP Fiori launchpad is the access point to apps on mobile or desktop devices. The apps are displayed via tiles. These tiles provide access to the single apps. The apps are organized by the following entities:
Catalog
A catalog is a set of apps you want to make available for one role. Depending on the role and the catalogs assigned to the role, users can browse through the catalogs and choose the apps that they want to display on the entry page of the SAP Fiori launchpad.
All KPIs that were modeled and activated by using the SAP Smart Business modeler apps are automatically added to a predefined KPI catalog. All users who have the role /UI2/SAP_KPIFRW5_TCR_S have access to this KPI catalog and are authorized to see the KPIs included in it. You cannot change the catalog by using the SAP Fiori launchpad designer.
Group
A group is a subset of apps from one or more catalogs. Which tiles are displayed on a user’s entry page depends on the groups assigned to the user’s role. In addition, the user can personalize the entry page by adding or removing apps to pre-delivered groups or self-defined groups.
To add KPIs from the predefined KPI catalog to groups, administrators require the role /UI2/SAP_KPIFRW5_TCR_S.
Roles (PFCG): Provides access to the assigned groups and catalogs.
For the catalogs, groups and roles related to apps that use an app launcher tile, SAP delivers technical content as well as business content. The business content, for example, business roles and business catalogs, can be used as showcases of how you can design roles, catalogs, and groups.
When creating your own catalogs, groups, and roles for these apps, SAP recommends using the technical content as a basis. The technical catalogs as part of this technical content contain the apps for a product area. You can identify technical catalogs through *_TC_* in the technical name. The technical roles per area to which the technical catalogs are assigned contain *_TCR_* in their technical name.
For apps that use an app launcher tile, create a custom catalog based on a technical catalog.
