Translator Profiles
A translator profile is a group of specific authorization objects for activities relevant to translation. The translator profile that is assigned to your user in transaction LXE_MASTER determines the translation activities that you can perform.
Example
For translators, the translator profile determines the quality statuses that they can assign to the proposals that they create while they translate short texts.
For translation coordinators, the translator profile determines more complex activities such as the languages for which they can display the statistics and whether they can assign collections or not.
Note
Users with the authorization profile SAP_ALL can perform all translation activities without having to be created as a translator or having a translator profile assigned to their user.
When you create a translator in the translation environment, you assign a translator profile to the translator.
A number of sample profiles are delivered by SAP which you can activate in transaction LXE_MASTER by choosing .
The sample profiles are as follows:
Translator Profile |
Purpose |
|---|---|
AA Display User |
This translator profile is empty. If you want to create a dummy translator to whom you assign collections to use as a template for statistics display or further collection assignment, then choose this translator profile. |
PB Terminologist II |
This profile enables you to generate worklists and display statistics for all languages. |
PK Terminologist |
This profile allows you only to display statistics for all languages. |
ST Statistician |
This profile enables you to display statistics for all languages. You can also display translation performance data for all transport groups and, if you are defined as a coordinator for all languages, you can create and change translator teams/groups. |
TG New Translator |
This profile is designed for new translators and allows them to assign only quality status X and B to the proposals that they create. |
TM External Translator and TN Inhouse Translator |
These profiles contain identical authorizations and enable translators to assign quality status, X, B, and S to the proposals that they create. |
TR External Translator (Advanced) and TS Inhouse Translator (Advanced) |
These profiles contain identical authorizations and enable translators to assign all possible quality statuses to the proposals that they create. |
VB Inhouse Coordinator II |
This profile enables translation coordinators to display, refresh, and delete statistics for all languages in SLLS. Coordinators can also display their own translation performance data and that for all translator groups, and display, extend, and reset another translator's worklist. |
VG External Coordinator I |
This profile enables translation coordinators to assign all possible quality statuses to the proposals that they create, and display and update the statistics of other translators. |
VI External Coordinator III |
This profile allows coordinators to display and create statistics and to display their own translation performance data and that of their translator group. Coordinators can also create and delete collection assignments for translators in their translator team in LXE_MASTER. |
VJ External Coordinator II |
This profile contains the same authorizations as profile VG, as well as allowing coordinators to assign collections to translators in their translator group, providing that those collections are already assigned to their user.
You only need to use profiles VG and VJ for target languages where more than one external translation agency is used. If you are working with purely internal translation resources, then assign profile VK or above to translation coordinators. End of the recommendation. |
VK Inhouse Coordinator |
This profile contains the same authorizations as profile VG, as well as allowing coordinators to assign all relevant collections to translators for their target language. In addition, VK coordinators can create translators for their target language and display the statistics of other target languages. They can call up worklists for collections that are not assigned to them and call up objects in a worklist that are already reserved in another translator's worklist. |
XT Super Coordinator |
This profile contains the same authorizations as profile VK, as well as allowing coordinators to define translation graphs, assign collections to translation graphs, maintain distribution parameters, and create translator teams and groups. They can create translators for any target language, and assign any collections. They can call up worklists according to object lists and transports (on-the-fly translation) and use transaction TPMO to create versions, and view the performance data of all translators. |
XX Super User |
Contains all authorizations for all translation activities. |
Note
For an overview of which authorization objects are currently assigned to which standard SAP translator profile, call transaction LXE_MASTER. On the
(Translators) tab
page, choose
(Translator Profiles) and expand each profile to see the authorization objects that they contain.
For a more detailed overview of which authorization objects are assigned to which standard SAP profiles and their particular values, choose .
You can add authorization objects to, or remove authorization objects from, these sample translator profiles. You can also create new translator profiles. For more information, see Working with Translator Profiles.
