End of the note.
Defining a Business System in SAP Sourcing

The system must exist before you define it as a business system in SAP Sourcing.

  1. Log on to SAP Sourcing as a user with system administration rights.

  2. Choose Setup.

  3. On the System Setup tab, find the Integration section and click Business Systems.

  4. Choose New.

  5. In the External ID field, enter the logical system name of the system.

  6. In the Name dropdown list, select a language pack and in the text box, specify a name for the business system.

  7. In the System Type dropdown list, select the system type of the system you want to create.

Creating an ERP-Related Business System

As mentioned above, you can create multiple business systems of the ERP, SAP Sourcing, and Other system types. To create an ERP-related business system, the following steps should be performed in addition to the steps described in the procedure above: “Defining a Business System in SAP Sourcing”.

  1. In the System Type dropdown list, select ERP.

  2. In the External ID field, enter the logical system name of the SAP ERP system you want to create.

    Note Note

For information about how to look up the logical system name of the SAP ERP system, see “Define External System” in the configuration guide for the integration of SAP ERP and SAP Sourcing. You can find the configuration guide on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/instguides. On the left side of the page in the navigation pane, choose the navigation path:   SAP Business Suite   SAP Sourcing  .

    End of the note.

    Note Note

For ERP-related business systems, an additional attribute is supported in order to specify the ERP release version. The default value is SAP ERP 6.0. If you want to integrate service line items in SAP Sourcing with SAP ERP, you must change this to your release and enhancement package numbers.

    End of the note.
  3. Specify the external ID of the ERP business system which you want to be used by default as a value for system property odp.doc.integration.external_system. This system property belongs to the odp.doc property set.

Creating a Custom Business System

A business system object can also be used to represent custom business systems. In order to create a custom business system the following steps should be performed in addition to the procedure described above “Defining a Business System in SAP Sourcing”.

  1. In the System Type dropdown list, select Other.

  2. When the Other system type is selected, you can edit the value for the integrated system configuration (ISC) attribute. This lets you select any ISC instance regardless of the ISC system type.

Creating a Local Business System

Note Note

Business system objects can represent local SAP Sourcing instances. For local business systems, note the following limitations:

  • You can set only business systems related to SAP Sourcing as local.

  • It is possible to have only one local SAP Sourcing business system in the application.

End of the note.

In order to create a local business system, perform the steps in the procedure described above, “Defining a Business System in SAP Sourcing”. Then perform the following extra steps:

  1. In the System Type dropdown list, select SAP Sourcing.

  2. Select the Local checkbox.

    Note Note

The Local checkbox appears below the System Type dropdown list. When the Local checkbox is selected, the integrated system configuration attribute is hidden because it is not necessary to specify a connectivity-related configuration for a local system.

    End of the note.
