A value list is a drop-down list used in SAP Sourcing. It allows users to select a value from a list. Examples of value list types include cost category, project status and phase, and payment method.

 

SAP Sourcing provides default value lists and types. You can also create new list types and edit all values. Value list values must be associated with Localized Resources.

Inactive

Select this checkbox to indicate that the value is inactive and unavailable for use.

Display Name ID

Enter a unique ID for the value list value.

Display Name

Select the Lookup icon to select a display name for the value list value from the list of localized resources. If the value name is not in the list, choose Create in the dialog box to create a new localized resource.

Alternate Name

Enter an alternate name to refer to the value list value.

Description

Enter a description for the value list value.

Adding a Value List Type and Values

To create a value list type and its values:

  1. Select   Setup   Master Data   Value List Types and Values  .

  2. On the Value List Type page, choose Create.

  3. On the Creating: Value List Type page, fill in a name for the value list type.

  4. Choose Add to add a value list value.

  5. On the Value List Value page, fill in value information.

  6. Choose Create to create a localized resource for the value. Fill in field information in the New Localized Resource dialog box and choose OK.

  7. Save your entries.

  8. Repeat steps 4 through 7 to create additional values.

Adding a Custom Phase in a Value List Value

Phases determine the steps or actions to be taken in a sourcing document workflow cycle. When one phase is completed, the document is advanced (either manually or automatically) to the next phase.

SAP Sourcing provides a number of default phases. You can add custom phases as value list values.

To add a custom phase:

  1. Select   Setup   Master Data   Value List Types and Values  .

  2. Do one of the following:

    • To edit or create phases for projects, choose Project Phases.

    • To edit or create phases for contract documents, choose Contract Document Phase.

  3. Choose Edit.

  4. Choose Add.

  5. On the Value List Value page, add phase information as needed, including selecting or creating a localized resource for the Display Name field.

  6. Save your changes.
