Activating and Deactivating the Coverage Analyzer in Application ServersLocate this document in the navigation structure

Procedure

You can switch the Coverage Analyzer on or off individually in the ABAP application servers in your system. Do this in the Data Collection Status on Different Servers section on the On/Off Status screen.

The icon colors in the Exception column mean the following:

  • Green: The Coverage Analyzer is activated and working correctly on the application server.

  • Yellow: There is an RFC problem reaching this server from the data collection job, or the shared memory and database are inconsistent.

Clicking on Detail <-> Overview shows more information if there is a problem.

  • Red: The Coverage Analyzer is inactive on this application server or the activation failed.

If a problem occurs, then an alert message is written in the Monitor. Press the Start button again if the messages are too old to find in the list of messages in the monitor.

Selectively switching on servers can be useful to you if you segregate testing by application server. For example, if your testers work on one particular application server, then you can deactivate the Coverage Analyzer on the other application servers. The code coverage statistics in the system will then reflect only the code coverage by test activities.

Note that at least one application server must be switched on and green, or no code coverage statistics will be available for display. For the Coverage Analyzer to work, both the main switch and at least one application server must be on.

It is usually not necessary to switch off an application server because of performance problems. The Coverage Analyzer should not have a serious impact on performance.
