When performing operations on objects in the Portal Catalog, such as moving or copying an object, the interactive wizard first performs a series of verification steps on the object. The criteria that are verified are listed in the following table:
|
Criterion |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Object dependencies |
Objects related to the object that you have selected to move, such as delta link targets, must be updated by the wizard so that they can reference the moved source object in its new location. Dependent objects can be one of the following:
The wizard displays the external dependencies that must be modified, so that you can choose whether or not to proceed. The wizard does not alert you if internal dependencies exist; they are modified accordingly by the wizard. |
|
Object locking status |
Objects being edited by you or by another user are locked by the system. A move action cannot be executed if objects or folders - including all dependencies - are already locked by another user or portal process. For more information, see Managing Locked Objects . The wizard displays the locked objects that are preventing completion of the action, and their respective owners. |
|
Permissions |
Administrator permissions are assigned to every object in the Portal Catalog and determine which actions can be performed by users. To move an object or folder, the following administrator permissions are required:
The wizard informs you if you do not have the necessary permissions. For more information about the permission settings required for the aforementioned capabilities, see Permission Levels . |
|
Hidden or filtered objects |
Each editor in the Portal Catalog displays only the objects that are relevant to it. For example, in the Portal Content Studio, you may be working with iViews in a particular folder, but the iViews are not displayed in the same folder in the System Landscape Editor. The wizard informs you if the source folder contains objects that are filtered out in the current editor. These objects are moved if you instruct the wizard to continue. |
