Creating a New Business ObjectLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

This section describes the use of portal wizard to create new business objects for use by object-based navigation. The wizard creates both system and context business objects.

Procedure


  1. In the Portal Catalog, from the context menu of the Business Objects folder, or any of its subfolders, choose Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step Business Object End of the navigation path.

  2. Enter the business object parameters:

    • Business Object Name (mandatory)

    • Business Object ID (mandatory)

    • Business Object ID Prefix (for example, a corporate or organizational namespace)

    • Business Object System Alias

      Enter an alias value to create a system business object. If there is no alias, the result is a context business object.

  3. Click Next to view the Summary page of the wizard.

  4. In the Summary page, click Finish to add the new business object to the Portal Catalog.

Results

A new business object is created. Its parameter values are concatenated to create an OBN URL to enable navigation. The OBN URL appears in the Summary page.
