Navigation with Short URLsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The portal creates short URLs for each URL to a specific navigation node. The short URL consists of the default portal URL, plus a NavigationTarget parameter with a hashed version of the full navigation target.

For example, the user mapping iView can be displayed with the following URL:

  • http://myServer:50000/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role/com.sap.portal.portal_personalization/com.sap.portal.persoUserMapping

A short version of the URL might be the following, with the navigation target hashed and shortened:

Integration

The portal contains an interface that lets you configure and manage the short navigation URLs defined in your portal. You access the interface as follows: Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step System Configuration Next navigation step Runtime Settings Next navigation step Short URLs End of the navigation path.

Activities

Using the Short URLs interface you can:

  • Enable/Disable Short URLs: When the short URL feature is enabled, all navigation URLs sent to the server are in short form. These URLs can be seen when, for example, adding a page to browser favorites.

Click Save to affect your change.

  • View Short URLs: Both the short and full URL of objects in the PCD are displayed. The display is static; to see an updated list, click Refresh . To synchronize the short URL with the full URL after changes have been made to the navigation target URL, click Synchronize .

  • Search for URL: You can search for a specific object in the PCD. You can search by short or full URL, or even by part of a URL.
