SAP NetWeaver Portal personalization features enable you to focus exclusively on data relevant to your daily decision-making processes. You can personalize your portal in various ways, such as determining which available content you display, and how and where you display it.
The following is a brief overview of the personalization options of the portal.
Portal Preferences
Choosing in the portal masthead opens a new window that displays a list of the portal elements that you can personalize.
Portal Theme . Change the look and feel of the portal by selecting a theme from the portal's theme library.
User Profile . Update the user profile that you created when you first registered (see Logging On to / Off the Portal ). The profile screen also lets you set the following:
Portal Language . Choose the language in which you want to work.
User Password . Change your logon password periodically to enhance portal security.
User Mapping . Configure the portal to use your portal logon credentials to access various systems that require different logon credentials by enabling single sign-on.
User Mapping (Remote iViews) . Enter logon information for iViews that deliver content from a remote content provider.
This option is relevant only if your organization has set up a federated portal network that enables the sharing of content between portals.
WorkProtect Mode . Protect unsaved data by setting a page flag that causes new objects to open in new windows during navigation.
On-Screen Help . Where applicable, display or hide explanatory text on the portal screens.
Page Preferences
To set your page preferences, select the portal page that you want to personalize, choose the Options icon in the page title bar, and from the dropdown list, select Personalize . The Personalize Page environment opens in a new window, displaying the layout and content of the selected page.
Interface
In the Personalize Page environment, the tree structure of the navigation panel displays the following nodes:
Content Panel : Provides you with access to content so that you can add other iViews and pages to the current page.
Depending on the configuration of your portal, the control panel displays the following tiles:
Portal Content : Displays all the content assigned to you, in the same format as it appears in the Portal Catalog.
Role-Based Content : Displays all of the content assigned to you, organized according to the roles to which they belong. The following content types are not displayed in the Role-Based Content tile:
Federated Portal Network (RRA and RDL)
Web Page Composer (areas and pages)
Related items (dynamic navigation and related links)
Content from external connectors (for example, enterprise workspaces)
This tile is only displayed when configured by a content administrator. For more information, see Configuring the Page Personalization Environment .
Page Editor : This node lists the iViews that are presently part of the page, including iViews that have been set as hidden. Display a hidden iView by choosing Add iView to Page from the context menu.
Options
You can perform the following to personalize your page:
Add/Remove Content . Your portal content administrator defines the iViews to which you have access. The Portal Catalog displays all the content that is available to you. In the context menu of the iView that you want to display in the page, choose Add iView to Page . After saving, you can see the added iView in the Personalized Page area of the navigation panel and in the content area.
As a portal administrator you can obtain more content from SAP Developer Network (SDN) in the Portal Content Portfolio at www.sdn.sap.com .
Arrange Content . You can select a different layout and rearrange the content displayed in the page.
After saving your changes, refresh your portal to view the changes.
