SAP has migrated all relevant 3.x data flows to 7.x data flows. You can install the objects that have been migrated.

Migration from 3.x to 7.x technology improves the performance of the data flows. For example, it is easier for you to create and change transformations than was the case with update rules.

The following objects have been migrated from 3.x to 7.x :

  • 7.x DataSources replace 3.x DataSources.

  • 7.x transformations replace 3.x transfer rules.

  • 7.x DataSources replace 3.x InfoSources.

  • 7.x transformations replace 3.x update rules.

7.x data flows enable

  • Real-time data acquisition (RDA)

  • Use of InfoCubes and DataStore objects with the HANA database

Effects on Data Transfer

  • The background technology of data transfer has changed.

  • It is easier to understand and change data flows.

  • Data models have not changed.

  • 3.x data flows are overwritten automatically by 7.x data flows.

Effects on System Administration

7.x data flows only have to be installed once for them to overwrite 3.x data flows.

Caution Caution

  • If you changed the 3.x data model supplied by SAP, you must add these changes again after you have installed the migrated 7.x data flows.

  • When you install 7.x data flows, only the D versions of the 3.x data flows are overwritten.
