External Views
External views are also supported by ALV with IDA (see: Restrictions). It is possible that the information of the Data Dictionary is insufficient to display the data correctly. For example, reference fields for fields with currency amounts or quantities are missing. In this case, the descriptions or formats must be adjusted to the individual fields.
You can
- change field texts (see Headers and Tooltips)
- set reference fields (see Setting Reference Fields with Currency and Amount Units)
- copy format and text of a data element (see Headers and Tooltips)
Note
ALV with IDA does not support all external views. With the capability check (see: Database Awareness) you can check if the specified view can be displayed.
Parameters
External views can contain parameters. These parameters restrict the returned values for a selection. If no value is copied for a parameter, no data is selected. If the external view can be parameterized, the parameters can be copied programmatically.
