Configure Dynamic Work ProcessesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

Dynamic work processes can have types dialog (DIA) or update (UPD, UPD2). When an application server is running, there may be times when all work processes are busy. If all work processes of one type (dialog or update) have status On Hold, the application server starts a process of this type dynamically. In the standard system up to five work processes can be started dynamically. This section explains how you can configure the number of dynamic work processes.

Procedure

  1. Find out the total number of configured work processes. The total is the sum of the following profile parameter values:
    • rdisp/wp_no_dia
    • rdisp/wp_no_vb
    • rdisp/wp_no_vb2
    • rdisp/wp_no_enq
    • rdisp/wp_no_btc
    • rdisp/wp_no_spo
    • rdisp/wp_no_restricted
  2. Add the required number of dynamic work processes to the calculated sum.
Note that the value must be equal to or greater than the sum of configured work processes plus at least five work processes that are started dynamically.
  3. Set parameter rdisp/wp_max_no to the calculated value.
