Deleting Superfluous Domain StandardsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • Translators have created proposals in the proposal pool while translating short text objects in the short text editor.
  • You are authorized to use transaction SE38 to run reports in the background.

Context

Report Proposal Pool: Delete Superfluous Domain Standards (RS_LXE_PP_CLEAN_UP_DUPLICATES) enables you to delete superfluous proposals in the proposal pool for any combination of source and target language. You can run the report at any time. It is an especially good idea to run the report before transporting the proposal pool from one system to another, so that you do not waste time exporting and then importing obsolete proposals.

In this context, a superfluous proposal means any proposal that can be deleted without changing the translation status of short text lines from translated to modified. The report deletes proposals according to the following logic:

  • There is just one system standard.
  • There is just one domain standard in each domain for which proposals have been created for the source text, and this domain standard is identical to the system standard.
  • No abbreviations have been assigned to the domain standard that is identical to the system standard.
  • Neither the domain standard nor the identical system standard has quality status A.

    or

The domain standard and the identical system standard both have quality status A.

Procedure

  1. Call transaction SE38.
  2. Execute report RS_LXE_PP_CLEAN_UP_DUPLICATES.

The Proposal Pool: Delete Superfluous Domain Standards screen appears.

  3. In the Target Languages field, enter the language keys of the target language(s) for which you want to delete superfluous proposals. You can use the input help to specify one target language, or you can select one of the following pushbuttons:
    Option Description
Multiple selection Multiple selection Allows you to enter several language keys
Insert from graphs Insert from graphs Inserts all of the target languages that have been defined in the translation graphs
All languages Translation languages Inserts all of the target languages that have been defined on the Languages tab in transaction LXE_MASTER
All languages All languages Inserts all languages
  4. If you want to restrict the report to a particular source language, enter the language key in the Source Language (Optional) field.
  5. If you want to list the domain standards that the report will delete, without actually deleting them, select the List Only checkbox.
  6. Schedule the report to run in the background by choosing Start of the navigation path Program Next navigation step Execute in Background End of the navigation path.

Results

If all of the criteria listed under Context are satisfied, then the domain standard is deleted.
Note The proposal pool could still contain unnecessary proposals after you have run this report. However, these proposals must be identified as unnecessary, and then deleted, by translators because it is not possible for a report to identify them as superfluous in accordance with the above definition.
