Creating Integration Scenario DefinitionsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

The interacting parties in an integration scenario definition are represented by elements called abstract IBCs. The abstract IBC has a semantic name, and it acts as a placeholder for a concrete IBC. During configuration, concrete IBCs are assigned to abstract IBCs. For each of the semantic contracts within the integration scenario definition, you have to assign an abstract IBC to both actors. One abstract IBC can be used for multiple actors.

Procedure

  1. Create an integration scenario using the Enterprise Services Wizard.

For more information, see Enterprise Services Wizard.

  2. On the Detail View tab in the proxy editor, add semantic contracts and abstract IBCs by right-clicking on the integration scenario definition and choosing the appropriate option from the context menu.

The abstract IBC only requires a name. It is merely a placeholder for the concrete Identifiable Business Context (IBC) that the business administrator assigns to it during configuration. The name of the abstract IBC should describe the interacting party, for example sales office or plant.

You can select the semantic contracts from the field help. They are added to the tree and both of the actors are displayed.

  3. For each semantic contract, assign an abstract IBC to both actors. Select an actor and select an abstract IBC from the field help to the right.

Once you have assigned an abstract IBC to each actor, the check symbol in front of the integration scenario definition disappears. This indicates that it is defined properly. If it does not disappear, you may have referenced an object in a release status other than released. This is a warning and the long text of the message provides you with further details.

  4. Save the integration scenario definition and activate it.

If you activate the object, it is saved automatically. If you save it without activating, you can finalize and activate it at a later point in time.

Results

The new integration scenario definition has been created.
