Change Logging Setting for a TableLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

In transaction S_AUT01, you can activate or deactivate logging for an entire table. Table logging is an alternative for cases in which change document creation for an individual data element is not possible.

Prerequisites

You have authorization for the transaction Configuration of Audit Trail (Logging) (S_AUT01).

Procedure

Select and Display Table via Technical Name

  1. In Customizing for SAP Netweaver choose Start of the navigation path Application Server Next navigation step Basis Services Next navigation step Audit Trail Next navigation step Changing the Configuration of Logging End of the navigation path, or call transaction S_AUT04 directly.

    The following screen appears: Change Configuration of Logging.

  2. In the list field above the object overview, choose the entry Table.

  3. Enter the technical name of the table and choose Continue.

    The system then displays all the important information for the logging of the table on the right-hand side of the screen:

    • The checkbox for table logging appears in the upper area of the screen. Directly adjacent is the Change Table Logging button plus an icon for the logging status of the table. In addition, you are provided with information as to whether change documents or transactions have been assigned.

    • The tble fields and data elements of the selected table are displayed in the lower area of the screen. For each data element, the Logging checkbox indicates whether the data element is logged via change document creation. If the flag has been set, the data element is logged.

Change Logging Setting

  1. From the menu, choose Start of the navigation path Logging Next navigation step Display <—> Change End of the navigation path or the Change Table Logging button.

    The system shows the Adopt button.

  2. In the upper area of the screen, check the Logging box to activate logging for the selected table or uncheck the box to deactivate it.

  3. You can enter a comment in the text field next to the checkbox.

  4. Choose Apply.

    The changed table is flagged for saving. The system displays the Already Changed symbol.

  5. Choose Save.

Result

When the changed logging settings are saved, the system first generates an inactive version, which you must then activate using the Mass Activation function. For more information on mass activation, see Changing Table and Data Element Logging.

If, at a later date, you want to be able to follow which changes were made to the logging settings for tables, you can use transaction S_AUT10 to run an evaluation of table logs of the table AUT_C_TABLOG.
