Calling the Workflow Builder

Procedure

You can call the Workflow Builder in the following ways:

Direct start: Choose Tools Business Workflow Development Definition Tools Workflow Builder Workflow Builder .
Start from task: From a screen for processing or displaying a multistep task

To call the alphanumeric display of the Workflow Builder directly, choose Tools Business Workflow Development Definition Tools Workflow Builder Workflow Builder (Alphanumeric) .

Direct start

This loads the workflow definition you last saved. To switch between change mode and display mode, choose . To load another version of the workflow definition or a new workflow definition, you have the following options:

To directly select a different workflow for processing, choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Business Workflow Development Definition Tools End of the navigation path Workflow Builder Workflow Builder (Selection).

If you want to load a different version of the workflow, select this version directly in the information area and then choose .
If the workflow is displayed in the object area tray My workflows and tasks in the folder Workflows last processed, the version number of the workflow definition is also specified in parentheses. To load it, select the workflow and choose Load workflow definition in the context menu.
If the workflow is displayed in a different folder of your object area, select the workflow, and choose Load workflow definition in the context menu. In the dialog mask Open other workflow definition you can select the version that you want to load.
If you want to load a different workflow, enter its workflow ID or a search term in the information area, in the field Workflow. All existing versions of the workflow are offered for selection, with the active version as the default setting. Choose the required version.
If you want to create a new workflow definition, select in the application toolbar. You define the workflow abbreviation and description when you save the workflow.

To call the Workflow Builder directly with a new and empty workflow, choose Tools Business Workflow Development Definition Tools Workflow Builder Workflow Builder: Create Workflow .

Start from task definition

If you start the Workflow Builder from a screen for processing or displaying a multistep task, choose Workflow Builder on the tab page Basic Data. The active version of the workflow definition is loaded. If there is no active version, the version with the highest version number is loaded.

To call another version of the workflow definition, choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Workflow Builder Choose Version End of the navigation path in the task definition. This takes you to a dialog box in which you can choose a version of the workflow definition.

Result

The workflow definition is displayed and can be processed as applicable. If the Workflow Builder is being called to process a newly-created, initial workflow definition for the first time, the following presentation is displayed (in the view No EPCs):

The start of the workflow definition is indicated by Start workflow. If the new workflow definition was called from the definition of a multistep task in which triggering events are defined, these are represented by the symbol and their description.
The end of the workflow definition is indicated by Workflow completed.
The area in which the new workflow definition can be added is indicated by an undefined step with an outcome. Steps are displayed in the form of symbols. The name of an outcome is shown in the standard view with an arrow.
