Legend for Icons in the Short Text Editor

(green)

Translated Line

The source text has already been translated, and the translation matches a valid proposal in the proposal pool. The color displayed in the status bar (with the technical information) is green.

(red)

New Line

The text has not been translated (that is, the translation line for this source text is empty). The color displayed in the status bar (with the technical information) is red.

(yellow)

Modified Line

This source text has been translated (the translation line contains a translation). However, the proposal pool does not contain a valid proposal for the current translation of this source text. This can happen in the following situations:

• The proposal pool does not contain any proposals at all for this source text.

• A developer has changed the source text.

• A translator has changed or deleted the proposal that used to match the translation of the source text.

The color displayed in the status bar is yellow.

Branch to Proposal Pool

You click on this icon to branch to the proposal pool. The number displayed next to the icon tells you how many proposals already exist for the source text.

Create Proposal Immediately (System Standard with Status S)

By selecting this button after translating a text, your translation is immediately saved in the proposal pool as a system standard with quality status S. For more information, see Translating in the Short Text Editor.

Create Comment

This icon can appear in the application toolbar and in a specific short text line. In the application toolbar, it indicates that no comment exists for the object. In a specific short text line, it indicates that no comment exists for the line. By selecting this icon, you can create a comment.

Display/Edit Comment

This icon can appear in the application toolbar and in a specific short text line. In the application toolbar, it indicates that a comment exists for the object. In a specific short text line, it indicates that a comment exists for the line. By selecting this icon, you can display and edit the comment.

Set Query Flag

This icon can appear in a specific short text line. It indicates that no translator has asked a question about the original language text. By selecting this icon, you can set the query flag.

Delete Query Flag

This icon can appear in a specific short text line. It indicates that a translator has asked a question about the original language text. By selecting this icon, you can delete the query flag.

Domain Standard

The icon can refer to the translation line or the best proposal (see the quick info for the icon.) The entry has been created as a domain standard in the proposal pool. The status of the domain standard in the proposal pool is displayed next to the icon (A, S, B, or X).

System Standard

The icon can refer to the translation line or the best proposal (see the quick info for the icon.) The entry has been created as a system standard in the proposal pool. The status of the system standard in the proposal pool is displayed next to the icon (A, S, B, or X).

Exception

The icon refers to the translation line. The translation has been created as an exception in the proposal pool.

100% of Translation Line is Displayed in Short Text Editor

The maximum input length available for a short text can be longer than the screen width. If this defined character length is used completely, it is possible for the text to exceed the width of the screen. If this icon is displayed, it means that the text in the source text line, translation line, and in the line below the translation line (that is, the best proposal) is displayed in full on the screen, even if it is technically possible for the source text, translation, or best proposal to exceed the screen width.

Translation Line Cut Off

If this icon is displayed, it means that it is technically possible for the source text, translation, and/or best proposal to exceed the screen width and that the text currently in the source text line, translation line, and/or in the line below the translation line (that is, the best proposal) has been cut off because it really does exceed this screen width. If you need to enter a translation that exceeds the width of the screen, click this icon. If you then click the translation line to enter your translation, a separate dialog box appears in which you can enter your translation in full.

Full Text Exists

This icon indicates that a full text has been defined for an abbreviation in the proposal pool for the source or target text. If the number 1 is displayed next to the icon, a full text has been defined for the source text. If the number 2 is displayed next to the icon, a full text has been defined for the target text. If you click on the number, the full text is displayed for the abbreviation.

Automatically Generated Proposal

If this icon is displayed, it means that the best proposal was generated automatically, that is, it was not created by a translator. Such proposals were first created by, and last changed by, a user such as XXX_EXTAUTO.
