Creating Multiple System / Domain Standards

You can create multiple system and domain standards in the proposal pool. Multiple system standards are needed if different translations are correct and none of them is domain-specific. If a source text can be translated as a singular or plural noun, depending on the context, you will need to create two system standards or domain standards for it.

The following table lists some examples of texts in source language German, target language English, for which you are advised to create two proposals at the same level:

If multiple system or domain standards exist, the quality status determines which proposal is the best proposal. If multiple system or domain standards have the same quality status, the longest proposal that fits into the translation line is the best proposal. If both proposals have the same quality status and the same length, it is a lottery which proposal is the best proposal. For more information on the best proposal concept, see Best Proposal.
