Changing the Maximum Duration of Generic SearchesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Generic searches in transaction SLPP can be very performance intensive. In order that generic searches do not place an unnecessary burden on system resources, there is a maximum duration period defined for them in transaction SLPP. Coordinators can increase or decrease this global system value as required, for example, in a system that is experiencing performance problems. Coordinators can also define in the system if it is possible for translators to increase this global setting or not.

Prerequisites
  • Your profile is assigned authorization object SLPP with value 04 (Change Global Settings).

  • You are defined as a coordinator for all languages **** in transaction Translation Environment (LXE_MASTER).

Process
  1. Call transaction Proposal Pool (SLPP).

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path Proposal Pool Next navigation step Settings Next navigation step Maximum Duration of Search End of the navigation path or choose Ctrl+F9.

  3. In the Global Settings group box, specify a new value for the maximum duration of a generic search in seconds. The default value is 180 seconds.

If you select the User Cannot Increase Specified Time check box, then translators using the generic search function are not able to increase the maximum search time for a generic search beyond the limit that you have specified.

  4. Choose Save Save.
