Technical Information for Long TextsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The long text editor enables you to display technical information for the long text object that is currently open. To display the technical information, choose Start of the navigation path Utilities Next navigation step Technical Information End of the navigation path. The system displays the Technical Information dialog box. You see technical data as well as information on the status of the object in the translation workflow. This information can be useful if you need to ask your developers questions about a specific object, or if you want to check the current translation status.

Features

The Object group box contains the following technical information:

Object Name

The technical name of the long text object that contains the source text currently being translated.

Description

The description of the object, which consists of:
  • The technical name of the object
  • A forward slash
  • The collection (package) to which the object belongs
  • The transport entry

Key

The technical key, which is generated dynamically for many object types. This means it changes every time you call up the object.

Text Lengths

This information only applies to short text lines, not to long text objects. You therefore see the value 0 in both the Current and Bytes fields.

Contact Person

The user name of the developer who is responsible for the object.

Object Type

The object type ID, such as DZ for a data element supplement.

Original Language

The original language of the object to be translated.
Example

In translation, the source language is not necessarily the same as the original language. For example, if your development language is German, but Japanese is translated from English, the system displays the following technical information for the English to Japanese translator:

Original language: deDE

Source language: enUS

Collection/Type

The collection (package) to which the object belongs, such as SLXE, and the ID of the technical environment from which the collection originates, such as R for ABAP.

Translation Area

The translation area from which the object originates. The value for ABAP translation is always 999999.

Description

The description of the collection (package) to which the object belongs, such as New MLT Environment.

Application Component

Application component to which the collection (package) is assigned.

Domain/Type The domain to which the object belongs, such as BC, and the ID of the technical environment from which the domain originates, such as R for ABAP.
Description The description of the domain, such as Basis.

The Change Data group box provides you with the following information:

  • The name of the person who last changed the source text
  • The timestamp for the last change made to the source text
  • The name of the person who last changed the target text
  • The timestamp for the last change made to the target text

The Workflow group box contains the target language. The Current group box contains the source language and object status.

The object status applies to the entire object. The statuses are:

  • M: The object has modified status.

  • N: The object has new status.

  • T: The object has translated status.

The information in the Lines group box only applies to short text lines, not to long text objects.

The Worklist group box contains the following information:

  • The number of the worklist that contains the object
  • User name of the person who has reserved the object in a worklist
  • Reservation number
  • Source language of the object in the worklist
  • Status of object in worklist. The three statuses described above – M (modified), N (new), and T (translated) - also apply here.

The information in the Lines group box only applies to short text lines, not to long text objects.
