root certificate (BC-SEC) |
Certificate belonging to a Certification Authority (CA).
To specify that you trust a specific CA, the CA's root certificate must be located in your corresponding certificate list.
For example, Microsoft deliveres a pre-defined certificate list with its Internet Explorer that is stored in the browser's "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" store. If you want to trust a CA that is not already contained in this list, you must import the CA's root certificate into this store.
