Use

Translator maintenance enables you to determine which activities a user can perform in the translation system. Furthermore, you can assign collections to translators to distribute the translation workload.

You can create translators for specific target languages, or for all target languages. The former option is useful for creating translators who wish to translate into specific target languages, whereas the latter option is useful for creating coordinators who need to perform tasks for all target languages.

If a user needs to perform translation and/or coordination tasks for several, but not all target languages, you must create this user as a translator/coordinator for each individual target language in question. If a translator needs to perform tasks for all languages, you must create him or her for the language ****.

A translator’s authorizations are determined by the role assigned to his or her system user. The rights granted to the system user can be restricted again by assigning different translator profiles. Each translator can have just one profile per target language.

Each translator can be assigned to one translator team, and one translator group.

The translator team is used to determine which translators work together. You can create a translation coordinator, for example, so that he or she can only assign collections to translators who are members of the same team.

The translator group is used to determine which translators belong together from a billing perspective. A coordinator with the appropriate authorizations, for example, can view the performance data of translators belonging to his or her group, but cannot view the performance data of translators assigned to other groups.

Prerequisites

·         You must create appropriate profiles before you can create translators. For more information, see Creating Translator Profiles.

·         Each translator you want to create in the translation environment must already have a system user in the system. Otherwise, an error message is displayed informing you that the user does not exist in the system. System users are created using transaction SU01.

·         Your translator profile must include the authorization object USER with the value 01.

·         If you want to assign translator groups and teams, your translator profile must have the authorization objects USTE and USTG, both with the value 01.

Result

The system now recognizes the users as translators with certain rights. You can assign collections to the translators, who can then translate them in transaction SE63.

The system no longer recognizes deleted translators as translators. The collection assignments no longer exist, and the translators cannot work in transaction SE63 any longer.
