Creating an Evaluation
Run
Use
Evaluations provide you with global worklists and statistics for all target languages defined in the system, and for all of the objects contained in the object list (or object lists) used for the evaluation.
Prerequisites
· At least one object list has been created.
· To run an evaluation with automatic distribution, you need to define the object types in transaction LXE_MASTER accordingly. You also need to ensure that the collections in which distribution is required are assigned to translation graphs.
· Your translator profile contains the authorization object WRKL with the value 01.

Procedure
To run an evaluation, you first need to register it in the system using a unique number. You must then define the evaluation parameters, and start the evaluation run.
Register an evaluation run

1. Call transaction LXE_MASTER.
2. On the Evaluations tab page, choose Evaluations.
This takes you to the Evaluation dialog box. You see a list of existing evaluations, their numbers, their activation statuses, the people who registered them, the registration dates, the people who generated the object lists, the generation dates, and the number of objects found during generation.
3. Choose the Create icon.
4. Enter a description of the evaluation in the Description field.
The description that you enter here is displayed for the translators when they call up their personal worklists. You are therefore advised to enter a name that properly describes the global worklist. For example, information on how the object list was generated or the name of the translation project. If the evaluation runs for an object list created on March 01, 2003 using piece list ABC, for example, you could give the evaluation the following name: March 01, 2003 – worklist for piece list ABC.
5. Save your description.
The system reserves the evaluation run under the next available sequential number. It is displayed at the bottom of the list in the Evaluation dialog box, together with its activation status, the person who registered the evaluation run, and the registration date.
The following activation statuses exist: initial (I), parameterization (P), error (E), released (R), main run (M), and generation complete (X). They enable you to keep track of the evaluation’s current stage of processing. For example, if an evaluation has status P, it means you are currently maintaining the parameters. However, you have not started to generate it.
Set parameters for an evaluation run

1. Call transaction LXE_MASTER.
2. On the Evaluations tab page, choose Evaluations.
This takes you to the Evaluation dialog box.
3. Choose Parameters.
This takes you to the Parameters dialog box. The number and description of the evaluation run are displayed at the top.
4. Enter the number of the global worklist you want to create/update.
The translators will use the worklist number later to reserve their personal worklists. Creating a new worklist number for each worklist run is not necessary, in fact it is counterproductive. If you create the worklist for the same product, you should keep using the same worklist number.
5. If you want translations to be distributed automatically during the evaluation run, select the Distribution checkbox.
6. If you want initial statistics and/or current statistics to be generated, select the Initial Statistics and/or Statistics checkboxes.
7. If you want to delete the existing global worklist, select the Deletion checkbox.
8. If you want to update the domain assignment of the evaluated objects, select the Renew Domain Assignment checkbox.
9. If you do not want the translation status of objects to be calculated, select the No Status Calculation checkbox.

10. In the Object Selection group box, choose the No Entries pushbutton next to Object Lists.
The Object Lists dialog box appears.
11. Select the object list(s) to be included in the evaluation run.
12. Choose Execute.
This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of object lists you selected is displayed next to the Object Lists field.
13. In the Object Selection group box, choose the No Entries pushbutton next to Object Types.
This takes you to the Object Type Selection (Groups) dialog box.
14. Select the object types to be evaluated. If you want to evaluate all object types, double-click the Object Type Selection node. If you only want to evaluate specific object groups, double-click the object groups to be evaluated.
The object types selected at this point do not override the object types defined for translation into a particular target language. For example, if you select object groups S1 to S7 for the evaluation run, but have only defined object groups S1 to S4 for translation into French, the global worklist for French will only evaluate object groups S1 to S4.
15. Choose Execute.
This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of object types you selected is displayed next to the Object Types field.
16. In the Object Selection group box, choose the No Entries pushbutton next to Graphs.
The Select Graph dialog box appears.
17. Select the translation graph or graphs to be included in the evaluation.
18. Save your selection.
This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of translation graphs you selected is displayed next to the Graphs field.
19. In the Object Selection group box, choose the No Entries pushbutton next to Target Languages.
The Target Language dialog box appears.
20. Select the target languages to be included in the evaluation run. If you want to select all target languages, double-click the Target Language node.
21. Save your selection.
This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of target languages you selected is displayed next to the Target Languages field.
If you want all object types, translation graphs, and target languages to be included in the evaluation (that is, if you do not want to make a more specific selection), click the Select All icon next to each of the pushbuttons. This selects all of the object types, translation graphs, and target languages defined in the system.
22. Save your settings.
23. This takes you to the Evaluation dialog box. The evaluation run has activation status P.
Perform an evaluation
After you have defined the parameters for the evaluation run, you can perform the evaluation.

1. Call transaction LXE_MASTER.
2. On the Evaluations tab page, choose Evaluations.
This takes you to the Evaluation dialog box.
3. Select the desired evaluation run, and choose Activate.
This takes you to the Start Time dialog box.

Schedule the
background job in the usual way.
5. This takes you back to the Evaluation dialog box. The evaluation run has the status R. After it has finished running, the status changes to X. If an error occurs, it has status E. While it is running, it has status M.
In the background job environment, primary jobs are processed that call up secondary jobs. You can recognize primary jobs because they do not include a language key (for example, EVALUATION_00031_00.) These primary jobs are triggered by a signal (event.) If background processing malfunctions in some way, you can set this signal in the Evaluation dialog box by using the Set Event pushbutton.
Result
The evaluation is performed. You can use transaction LXE_MASTER to monitor its progress.
After the evaluation run has finished, a global worklist and statistics are available for the selected target languages and translation can begin.
