Background documentationSecurity Settings for Shared Memory

The shared memory is used by the SAP system dispatcher and the work processes for certain activities, such as buffering (ABAP programs, database data) and sharing interprocess information. These processes use the Access Control List (ACL) of their executable (dispatcher: disp+work.exe) to protect the shared memory segments they are creating or attaching. Therefore, users who have only Read, List Content and Execute permissions on the executable cannot start programs that create the SAP shared memory segments, or write to them.
