Finding a Class via Characteristics

Procedure

To find the class you require on the basis of one or more of its characteristics, proceed as follows:

Enter '*' in the Class field.
Choose the function Goto Find in start class by characteristics .
You see a screen on which you can enter the characteristics you want to use in your search.
You can display the characteristic by choosing Environment Display char .
You can choose between the following search strategies by choosing Chge srch criteria .
A Class contains all given characteristics

B Class contains one of the given characteristics

C Class does not contain all given characteristics

D Class contains none of the given characteristics
To see a list of all the classes that fulfill your search criteria, choose Proceed.

The characteristics must have been entered in the class directly, in a class maintenance function. Inherited characteristics are ignored in the search.

This example illustrates the differences between the different search strategies.

The following classes and characteristics are available for the example search:

Class	Characteristics
CL1	C1
K2	C2
CL3	C3
CL4	C4
CL5	C1, C2

If you enter characteristics C1 and C2 as search criteria, the results of the search are as follows:

Search strategy	Classes found
A (all characteristics entered)	CL5
B (one of the characteristics entered)	CL1, CL2, CL5
C (not all characteristics entered)	CL1, CL2, CL3, CL4
D (none of the characteristics entered)	CL3, CL4

You only search in one class type. You can change the class type by choosing Start of the navigation path Extras Next navigation step Change class type . If you want use a class type to find a class use Extras All class types. The search then covers all available class types. End of the navigation path
