Merging Subitems
The rules-based ATP check (RBA) can create subitems for the confirmed substitutions and remaining requirements that it determined for an item. Under certain conditions, the RBA can include the confirmations of the confirmed substitutions in the main item and does not create subitems for the confirmed substitutions. (This procedure is called "merge subitems".) You can use this function to prevent your sales order from containing subitems that have the same location product as your main item. Having a main item instead of several subitems simplifies the administration of the sales order.
You have activated the BAdI Implementation Enhancement of RBA Customizing (/SAPAPO/SIMPLIFY_CUSTOMIZING). To do so, in Customizing for Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP), choose.
Note
The BAdI implementation is available as of
Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) 7.0 SP 14
SAP enhancement package 1 for APO 7.0 SP 11
SAP enhancement package 2 for APO 7.0 SP 08
SAP enhancement package 3 for APO 7.0 SP 01
Alternatively, you can implement SAP Note 1832840.
In the Create Subitem field of the check instructions, you have selected the option Merge Subitems Into Main Item. To call the check instructions, in Customizing for Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP), choose .
The RBA can only merge substitutions and remaining requirements into the main item if the substitutions and the main item have the following data in common:
Location
Product
Version
Sublocation (storage location)
Check mode
Business event
Note
In a scenario in which you allow the location to be substituted directly in the item, the system can also merge a subitem with a different location into the main item. For more information, see Location Substitution in the Item.
The RBA analyzes the confirmed substitutions and remaining requirements that it has proposed. The RBA merges the subitems into the main item if the following prerequisites are met:
Only the substitutions with matching data have a confirmation. If there are also confirmed substitutions with non-matching data, the RBA does not perform a merge.
There are no remaining requirements (because remaining requirements are not allowed according to the check instructions or because the original requirement and the substitutions can be fully confirmed).
The system is not allowed to perform a merge if both a partial confirmation and a remaining requirement exist for an item.
Note that a merge is not possible in the following cases:
If a rule has changed the check parameters (for example, the check mode)
If you have activated third-party order processing via the location determination activity for the requested location product
After a successful ATP check with merging of subitems, only the main item is displayed in the sales order in the OLTP system.
