Procedure

  1. In the Object Manager panel, under the Detail section, choose the Assigned Objects tab.

    The Assigned Objects tab page appears.

  2. Choose Expression from the Type field and choose Create Object.

  3. In the Object Creation dialog box that appears, enter the following data:

    • Name

    • Short Text

    • Text

  4. Choose Decision Table in the Type field and choose Create & Navigate To Object.

    The newly created decision table expression appears in the Object Manager panel.

    Note Note

    If you choose Create, the decision table expression appears under the Assigned Objects tab.

  5. Choose Show Table Settings and assign the result data object. You can assign an existing data object, a new data object or a standard data object.

    This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

    • Select an Existing Data Object

      1. Choose Graphical Access (Graphical Access).

      2. In the context menu, choose   Select Result Data Objects   More Result Data Objects...  .

      3. In the Object Query dialog box that appears, choose the data object and choose Select.

    • Select a Standard Type

      1. Choose Graphical Access (Graphical Access).

      2. In the context menu, choose Select Standard Type and choose the data object type.

    • Create a New Data Object

      1. Choose Graphical Access (Graphical Access).

      2. In the context menu, choose Create Result Data Object....

        Note Note

        If you are creating a decision table expression as the top expression in a function, the assigned result data object of the table should either be of the same type as assigned to the function or should be exactly the same object as used in the function.

        The result column for the decision table is added automatically when the Result Data Object is selected.

  6. Add columns to the decision table. Choose Append Column or Insert Column depending on where you want to add the column.

    You can add a function context, data object or expression as column.

    Note Note

    To add a column at the end of the table, choose Append Column.

    To insert a column at a current selection, choose Insert Column.

    • Add a Function Context

      1. Choose   Append Column   From Function Context...  .

      2. In the Context Query dialog box that appears, select the context and choose Select.

    • Add Any Other Context

      1. Choose   Append Column   Select Any Other Context...  .

      2. In the Object Query dialog box that appears, select the data object and choose Select.

    • Add a New Expression

      1. Choose   Append Column   Derive From Expression...  

      2. In the Object Creation dialog box that appears, create the expression.

    • Add an Existing Expression

      1. Choose   Append Column   Select an existing Expression  .

      2. In the Object Query dialog box that appears, select the expression and choose Select.

  7. Define the decision table by adding rows. To add rows, choose Append Line under the Table Data section.

  8. Add values to the decision table. You can directly add values or define an expression as the value.

    • Add Value

      1. Choose ... next to Graphical Access (Graphical Access).

      2. Enter the relevant values and choose Done.

    • Add an Existing Expression as Value

      1. Choose Graphical Access (Graphical Access).

      2. In the context menu, choose   Select Existing Expressions   More Expressions...  .

      3. In the Object Query dialog box, select the expression and choose Select.

    • Add a New Expression as Value

      1. Choose Graphical Access (Graphical Access).

      2. In the context menu, choose Create Other Expressions....

      3. In the Object Creation dialog box that appears, create the expression.

  9. Save the decision table.
