If the search object connector templates delivered by SAP do not meet your requirements, you can create search object connector templates or change existing ones.

Prerequisites

  • Expert knowledge of SAP systems and business objects

  • If applicable: In-depth knowledge of the modifications that the customer has made to business objects

  • SAP Business Suite 2008

Procedure

Before creating search object connector templates or changing existing ones, you first need to create a customer-specific software component. Then you include the required SAP software component in your customer-specific software component.

Creating Customer-Specific Software Components

  1. Log on to the Administration Cockpit for Embedded Search.

    You use the following URL to launch the administration cockpit:

    http://<host_name>/<port_number>/es/cockpit

    In this case, <Hostname> stands for the SAP NetWeaver host and <Portnummer>stands for the port that you use to reach the SAP NetWeaver system.

  2. Choose Switch to Modeler to start the template modeler.

  3. Choose   Software Components   Define Software Components  .

  4. Choose Create to create a software component.

    Enter a name in the New SW Comp. field. Leave the other fields empty. Close the screen.

    Choose Create to create the software component.

    Specify a description for the software component and choose X to close the dialog box.

  5. The new software component appears in the template modeler.

Including SAP Software Components in the Customer-Specific Software Component

In this step you create the connection between the customer-specific software component and an existing SAP software component so that all templates that the SAP software component contains are available for your enhancements.

  1. You are in the template modeler.

  2. Select the software component that you created.

  3. Choose   Software Components   Include Software Components  .

    Choose the existing software components that you want to reference, for example SAP_APPL or PLMWUI.

  4. The referenced software component is displayed in the template modeler below your customer-specific software component.

Follow-On Activities

In the customer-specific software component, you can now create templates or enhance included templates.

Note Note

You should note that you cannot delete any existing elements or configuration when enhancing included templates. You can add and enhance elements.

To create a template, choose Create in the template modeler.

To enhance an included template. choose the template and choose Edit.

In both cases, the system takes you to the roadmap, in which you can configure the template on a sequence of screens.
