Monitoring Response Times of Transactions or
Clients
You can use the Alert Monitor to monitor the response times in a particular client, in a transaction, or in a transaction in a client.
Use this function to monitor a service level agreement with which service providers are under contract to provide their customers with SAP services a certain response time. The Service Level Agreement could, for example, be based on the response times in a client that the customer uses, or on the response times of critical transactions.

As of SAP R/3 4.6C, the Alert Monitor contains the transaction-specific dialog monitor in the CCMS Monitors for Optional Components monitor set. You can use this monitor to monitor the response times in specific clients or transactions.
You can either use this monitor, or, as we recommend, use the procedure below to create your own monitor.

· To be able to monitor a particular client, enter it as transaction name (field TCODE) * and specify the client (field MON_CLIENT). Note that in this case, one subtree is displayed in the alert monitor for all transactions, and not a subtree for each transaction.
· To monitor a particular transaction in all clients, enter the transaction code and * as the client name. Note that in this case, one subtree is displayed in the alert monitor for all clients, and not a subtree for each client.
4. Enter a descriptive name of your choice for the monitoring object (field MO_NAME). The name is displayed in the monitoring tree that you define later in transaction RZ20.
5. Specify an MTE class (field MTECLASS).

We recommend that you use the same name for the MTE class and the monitoring object. This simplifies selecting by client or transaction in the monitoring definition.
Use the same MTE class name for clients or transactions that you want to display together in the monitor.
6. Always specify <CURRENT> for the SERVER ID. Save the report definition.
You can now use the Transaction-Specific Dialog Monitor to monitor the response times in dialog for the specified clients and transactions. If you want to use a separate monitor to display the data, follow the procedure below:

1. Call transaction RZ20 and choose Extras→ Activate Maintenance Functions.
2. Create a new monitor definitionin the monitor set of your choice or edit an existing monitor.

Choose Create Node (
). In the Create Node window, select the Rule Node radio button and choose Continue.
4. The Edit Rule Node screen appears. You should usually choose CCMS_GET_MTE_BY_CLASS, and then choose Continue.
5. Enter the SAP System to be monitored in the R3System field.
6. Enter one or both of the following MTE classes in MTEClass:
