Use

You can view all list formatted logs and traces on all selected systems merged in a table.

Note

You cannot view default trace files in the SAP Logs view, use the Default Trace predefined view instead. For more information, see Filtering and Viewing Traces in Default Trace View.

Note

Bear in mind that some of the steps in the procedure are optional. You can set as many filter criteria as you want.

Procedure

...

       1.      From the Get dropdown box, select Predefined View and then, from the adjacent dropdown box, select SAP Logs.

All list formatted logs and traces on all selected systems are merged and displayed in a table. The newest record is displayed at the top.

       2.      To display a table on a separate screen with the locations and names of the log files from which the log records are taken, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Show all Log Files included in this record set.

       3.      Choose Open Filter.

Applying Filters by Data Source

...

       1.      To display all logs and traces on a data source location, in the Filter by Data Source frame, select <Select Data Source>, and then from the dropdown box below select Get all logs from.

       2.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

       3.      Select a data source location.

Note

You can make a filter inactive and keep it for future use by deselecting the Active indicator. You can delete a filter by selecting the Active indicator and choosing This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Delete this filter.

       4.      To exclude all logs and traces on a data source location, in the Filter by Data Source frame, select <Select Data Source>, and then from the dropdown box below select Exclude all logs from.

       5.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

       6.      Select a data source location.

       7.      Choose Apply Data Sources.

Applying Filters by Content

...

       1.      In the Filter by Content frame, select <Select Filter>, and then from the dropdown box below select a filter by content.

       2.      Specify filter criteria. For more information about the content you can filter, see List of Columns for Logs and Traces.

       3.      Choose Apply Filters.

All list formatted logs and traces on all selected systems that meet the filter criteria are merged and displayed in a table.

Opening Record Details and Record Full Information

...

       1.      Select a log or trace record you want to view and choose Open Record Details.

Record details including the columns that are selected during column customization appear.

       2.      To view full record information, choose Open Full Record Information.

Record details including all columns that are available for column customization appear.

Example

If you are a system administrator and you want to display all logs and traces from the last hour with severity ERROR on a particular server, proceed as follows in the SAP Logs view:

...

       1.      Set filter by data source

                            a.      From the <Select Data Source> dropdown box, select Get all logs from.

                            b.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and, from the dialog box that appears, select Host:sapserver, System:J2E, Instance:00, Node:Server 0 0_28740.

                            c.      Choose Apply Data Sources.

       2.      Set filter by content

                            a.      From the <Select Filter> dropdown box, select Date & Time – Relative.

                            b.      In the adjacent field, select equals.

                            c.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and, from the dialog box that appears, select last hour.

                            d.      From the <Select Filter> dropdown box, select Severity.

                            e.      In the adjacent dropdown box, select equals.

                              f.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and, from the dialog box that appears, select error.

                            g.      Choose Apply Filters.

All list formatted logs and traces from the last hour and with severity ERROR on the selected server are merged and displayed in a table.
