Integration With Microsoft
This part of the scenario variant aims to introduce you to SAP NetWeaver’s ability to integrate the users that are already available on your Microsoft Windows operating system and the users available on the SAP NetWeaver.
In a complex system landscape, users have to authenticate themselves separately in the different SAP software-based systems. The problem is compounded by the existence of additional passwords, such as those used to log on to individual workstations through Active Directory (AD) or other non-SAP software. SAP NetWeaver provides a way of reducing the time spent on managing user accounts by automating the user administration process. This approach can free up resources in the IT departments.
One part of the Microsoft Windows Server platform is the Microsoft Active Directory. SAP NetWeaver provides an integration with this Microsoft product and, in this way, unifies the integration technologies in a single platform. In addition, SAP NetWeaver provides integration with the business applications, which also allows you to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) for the product. You can use SAP NetWeaver Portal as an end-to-end Single Sign-On (SSO) solution that fits most companies, leveraging existing directories such as AD using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). Authentication to portal users can be delegated to the AD. Users can log on to SAP NetWeaver Portal using their Windows password, since AD can be utilized as the user repository for SAP NetWeaver Portal. In intranet scenarios, SAP NetWeaver Portal supports Windows-integrated authentication as an external authentication method. In this case, the credentials a user provides during the initial logon to his or her workstation can be reused.

SSO Integration
· A central user repository that can be accessed by various applications that can use open standards such as LDAP.
· Single Sign-On
This is a good solution for the logon problems that provide users with a single password, enabling them access to every system.
· An SAP NetWeaver Portal.
