Use

Use the procedures below to create, edit, or delete a chart.

When you create a chart, you group together various monitors. You can create a chart from scratch, or based on an existing predefined or custom chart.

You cannot delete a predefined chart or edit a predefined chart and have it under its original name. To create a chart based on a predefined one, you have to edit and save the modified preset chart under a new name.

Note

It is technically possible to have up to one new chart with the same name as that of a predefined chart. However, we recommend that when creating a chart, you give it a name that is different from the names of the predefined charts.

When you create, edit or delete a chart, the changes you make become available:

      Only for the currently selected system

      For all users who work with Java System Reports

Procedure

Creating and Editing Charts

       1.      In the Cluster Node dropdown box, choose the type of node for which you want to add monitors. The following options are available:

       Server <serverID>

You can add server monitors.

       Dispatcher <dispatcherID>

You can add dispatcher monitors. When you select a dispatcher, you cannot add JARM monitors to a chart.

       All

You can add both server and dispatcher monitors.

Note

If in the Instance dropdown box you have selected All, in the Cluster Node dropdown box only the All option is available.

       2.      Choose the Charts tab, and then from the toolbar, choose Open Customization.

Under the tabs bar, several new buttons appear.

       3.      To create a chart from scratch, choose New.

To create a chart based on a preset or a custom one, in the Chart dropdown box, choose a preset or a custom chart, and then choose Goto Edit Mode.

To edit a chart, in the Chart dropdown box, choose a custom chart, and then choose Goto Edit Mode.

       4.      In the Name and Description fields, enter a name and short description for the chart.

       5.      In the Selected Nodes pane, add monitors to the chart. You can add performance and JARM monitors.

                            a.      Add performance monitors.

                                                  i.       Choose Add Performance Monitor. In the Available Nodes pane, the monitoring tree opens. For more information about the monitoring tree, see Monitor Browser.

                                                ii.       In the monitoring tree, expand a node, then choose a monitor, and then choose Add.

Note

You can add monitors one by one only. You cannot add a whole node of monitors at one go.

                            b.      Add JARM monitors.

                                                  i.       Choose Add Jarm Monitor. The JARM Components pane opens.

                                                ii.       From the dropdown box, choose either Components, or Requests, or Users.

                                               iii.       Use one of the following options to specifying a JARM monitor:

       Enter Manually

In Name field, specify the name of the JARM monitor.

       Select from Current

Opens a list of the current top value JARM data. If the history option is switched on, the current data is deleted every 5 minutes and is replaced by the new top values for that period.

Choose a JARM monitor from the list.

       Select from History

Lists all JARM data stored in the history. If the history is switched off, this option remains empty.

Choose a JARM monitor from the list.

                                               iv.       Choose Add.

The Attributes pane opens. For each JARM monitor you add, you need to specify which of its attributes you want to monitor.

                                                 v.       From the Attributes list, choose one or more attributes.

       6.      If you want to remove a monitor, in the Selected Nodes pane choose the monitor, and then choose Remove. To remove all monitors, choose Remove All.

       7.      If you want to see a preview of the current chart, choose Goto View Mode. To return to the list of chart, choose Goto Edit Mode.

       8.      If you created a chart from scratch, or edited a custom chart, choose Save.

If you created a chart based on an existing predefined or custom one, choose Save as New.

Deleting Charts

...

       1.      Choose the Charts tab, and then from the toolbar, choose Open Customization.

       2.      In the Chart dropdown box, choose a custom chart.

       3.      Choose Delete.
