During this stage you:

  • Select the system, define the type of uptime and its recurrence

  • Document the downtime

Procedure

  1. Select the required system for which you want to plan the downtime and perform one of the following as required:

    • To plan for a single downtime, choose Schedule/Record Single Downtime and select one of the following:

      • of type Planned Downtime

      • of type Unplanned Stop

      • of type Crash

    • To plan for a recurring downtime, perform one of the following:

      • To plan for a weekly recurring downtime, choose   Schedule Recurring Downtimes   With Weekly Periodicity  .

      • To plan for a monthly recurring downtime, choose   Schedule Recurring Downtimes   With Monthly Periodicity  .

  2. In the Status field, select Draft.

  3. Perform one of the following:

    • To plan for a single downtime, proceed as follows:

      • In the Start Date and Start Time fields, enter the date and time when the system must start the downtime (or record the downtime in case of Crash downtime).

      • In the End Date and End Time fields, enter the date and time when the system must end the downtime (or record the downtime in case of Crash downtime).

    • To plan for a recurring downtime, enter the first start date and the last end date in the First Start Date and Last End Date field.

      The first start date and last end date refer to the entire time period during which all individual downtimes are scheduled to take place.

  4. Enter the description for the downtime and attach any documents to support the description.

  5. If you plan a recurring (weekly or monthly) downtime in step 3, proceed as follows:

    1. Choose the Scheduling tab page.

    2. To plan the recurrence (pattern) of the downtime, select one of the options available in the Schedule Downtime list box.

    3. To select the time zone of the downtime, select one of the options available in the in Time Zone list box.

    4. Enter the recurrence details.

Recommendation Recommendation

Plan the uptime before you plan a downtime. This prevents you from planning a downtime during a planned uptime.
