You release demand data after you have created forecasts and promotions in one of the following applications of SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC):

  • Promotion planning to replenishment planning

You can release demand data in the following ways:

  • Manually on the SAP Easy Access screen

  • Manually on the relevant SAP SNC Web screens

  • Automatically by using the demand service in a Planning Service Manager (PSM) run

Prerequisites

If you want to release demand in a forecasting PSM run with the demand service, you must make the following settings:

  • You define a service profile for demand release in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration, by choosing Start of the navigation path Demand Next navigation step Demand Release Next navigation step Define Service Profiles for Demand Release. End of the navigation path

  • To release the demand data specified in your service profile, you set the Release Demand indicator and specify your demand release service profile in the Release Demand field.

Features

Releasing Demand Data from the SAP Easy Access Menu

You can release demand, forecast, or promotion data on the SAP Easy Access screen, by choosing Start of the navigation path Supply Network Collaboration Next navigation step Demand Next navigation step Demand Release Next navigation step Release Demand. End of the navigation path

Releasing Demand Data on the SAP SNC Web UI

You can release demand, forecast, or promotion data on the relevant Web screens. To release demand data, choose Release on the Web screen.

Releasing Demand Data from Statistical Forecasting

You can release statistical forecast data to collaborative sales forecasting (CSF) or short-term forecasting. In the forecast master record (for more information, see Forecast Parameters), you must make the following settings:

  • If you want to run a consensus finding in CSF, you must stop statistical forecast data from disaggregating and transferring to short-term forecasting before a consensus finding has been run in CSF. To do this, you must set the Status field in the Update Forecast Master Record web screen to G.

  • To release statistical forecast data directly to short-term forecasting, you must set the Status field in the UpdateForecast Master Record screen to F.

When you release statistical forecast data from statistical forecasting, the system uses the horizon that you have defined in your forecast profile. The horizon is defined in weeks. For more information, see Forecast Profile.

Releasing Demand Data from Collaborative Sales Forecasting

You can release consensus forecast data to short-term forecasting. SAP SNC uses the release horizon defined in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration, under Start of the navigation path Demand Next navigation step Collaborative Sales Forecasting Next navigation step Create Profiles for Collaborative Sales Forecasting End of the navigation path when releasing the data. When releasing consensus forecast data that is based on weekly buckets to short-term forecasting, SAP SNC disaggregates the quantity of the weekly bucket to daily buckets. For more information of how SAP SNC disaggregates the data, see Disaggregating Demand Data in Collaborative Sales Forecasting.

Releasing Demand Data from Short-Term Forecasting

You can release demand data to replenishment planning. When you release demand data from short-term forecasting to replenishment planning, the system uses the release horizons displayed in the Short-Term Forecast Parameters screen. You define the horizon in the Forecast Periods field. The horizon is defined in weeks. for more information about replenishment planning, see Replenishment Planning.

Releasing Promotion Data from Promotion Planning

You can release promotion data to replenishment planning. When you release promotion data from promotion planning, the system only releases the selected promotion. The system uses the release horizon specified for that promotion.

Releasing Demand Data in a PSM Run

The demand service (planning service VMIFORECAST) can also release data in a PSM run.

If the demand service is to release demand data, you must make the following settings:

  • You define a service profile for demand release in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration, by choosing Start of the navigation path Demand Next navigation step Define Service Profiles for Demand Release End of the navigation path.

  • In the service profile for the demand service, you make the following settings:

    • You enter the demand release profile that the demand service should use.
