Function documentationDeployment

You use deployment as a planning process to determine which of your demands can be fulfilled by the existing supply. If the quantities match the demand data received, the result of deployment is a confirmation. If, however, the available quantities are insufficient or the quantities exceed the demand, deployment modifies demand data to create planned replenishment orders.

For more information about the deployment process, see Process Flow in Deployment.

You can run deployment in the Planning Service Manager (PSM) with a planning profile, or you can run deployment directly from the Responsive Replenishment Monitor (RR Monitor) on the SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC) Web user interface (Web UI). SAP SNC uses the PSM to execute automated planning services. You can create a planning service for deployment and group it together with planning services such as forecast, replenishment planning and Transport Load Builder (TLB) in a planning profile, but you can also run the deployment planning service on its own. We recommend running deployment between replenishment planning and TLB/firm receipts generation.

Note Note

Deployment is an optional planning service. You do not have to use it. If you run deployment, you must run SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO) to get the ATD data of the ship-from locations.

End of the note.

Integration

To run the deployment planning service the system must call the Supply Network Planning (SNP) deployment module from SAP APO. You can therefore only run the deployment planning service if you have installed and run SAP SNC and SAP APO on the same SCM Server installation. If you use a separate SCM Server installation for SAP SNC only, the deployment planning service is not available.

Prerequisites

For information about setting up deployment, see Settings for Deployment.

Features

Running Deployment from the Responsive Replenishment (RR) Monitor Web Screens

You can run deployment from the following Responsive Replenishment Monitor Web screens:

  • Responsive Replenishment Overview

  • Responsive Replenishment Details

  • Responsive Replenishment Details - Product View

Running deployment from the RR Monitor differs from a PSM run in that the customer location and product data that the system uses is based on the selection data that the logon user has selected on the screen. For the planning horizon and planning offset the system uses a matching projected stock profile. Ship-from locations are determined by the transportation lane.

For more information about how the system matches a selection to a projected stock profile, see Assign Settings for Replenishment Planning and SNI in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration.

Key Figure Planned Receipts Before Deployment

The key figure Planned Receipts Before Deployment contains the quantity of planned replenishment orders created by the replenishment run. After you run deployment the system subsequently displays the quantity of planned replenishment orders in the key figure Planned Receipts.

Fair Share Rules Used for Deployment in SAP SNC

The deployment service only supports the fair share rules A, B, C, and D.

Note Note

Fair share rule B uses safety stock as the target stock level.

For more information about fair share rules for Deployment, see the SAP Library at help.sap.com Start of the navigation path SAP Business Suite Next navigation step SAP Supply Chain Management Next navigation step SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Supply Network Planning Next navigation step Deployment Next navigation step Deployment Heuristics End of the navigation path.

End of the note.
Separating Baseline and Promotion Quantities

TLB shipments, replenishment orders and planned replenishment orders in Responsive Replenishment for SAP SNC can carry promotion as an attribute. In SAP SNC, the deployment service separates promotion and baseline quantities to ensure higher priority for promotion demands when distributing deployment quantities delivered by the SAP APO deployment service.

The deployment functionality applies the following priorities for TLB shipments and planned replenishment orders. It satisfies them in the following order:

  • Unpublished TLB shipments for promotion demands

  • Unpublished TLB shipments for baseline demands

  • Planned replenishment order for promotions demands

  • Planned replenishment order for baseline demands

Activities

To run deployment from the Responsive Replenishment Monitor Web screens go to the SAP SNC Web UI and choose Start of the navigation path Replenishment Next navigation step Responsive Replenishment Monitor End of the navigation path. You can run Deployment from one of the following screens:

  • Responsive Replenishment Overview

Choose Run Deployment from the Services dropdown list.

  • Responsive Replenishment Details

Choose Run Deployment from the dropdown list.

  • Responsive Replenishment Details - Product View
