In the context of the license procedure, you can install multiple license keys. This is required, for example, if your configuration is a cluster environment of hosts that can be switched to standby hosts if an error occurs (high availability strategy). If standby hosts are defined for the message server (or SAP System) in high availability configurations, you need to set up a license key for each standby host. You can determine the hardware key of the standby host either as described in Determining the Hardware Key, or by executing the command saplicense -get (System i: saplicense '-get').

Request your high availability license key as described in SAP Note 181543.

Alternative

If you do not know in advance which hardware key is relevant after the failover, you can install a temporary license key on the standby host. Then you have two weeks in which to either switch back to the old host or to install a new permanent license key on the standby host.
