Use

With the shelf life propagation function, you can propagate shelf life data along the supply chain after the planning run in Supply Network Planning (SNP). The process starts at the level of sales orders or forecasts and propagates the shelf life requirements of demands to the corresponding orders, taking into account transport and production durations. During this process, the shelf life data of orders created by SNP planning are set to the propagated values. The system uses dynamic pegging relationships to find corresponding demands and receipts. For more information about dynamic pegging, see Dynamic Pegging.

After propagation is complete, the planner can check the following data in interactive Supply Network Planning:

A stock balance based on shelf life

      Projected wastage quantities

Alerts that are raised if the receipts and demands do not match with regard to their shelf life data

The report creates an application log containing the results of the propagation run.

Prerequisites

You have performed a heuristic or SNP optimizer, a deployment run, or manual planning. For more information, see Supply Network Planning Run.

Features

Shelf life propagation considers the following types of orders:

       Sales orders

       Forecasts

       Stock transfers

       Planned orders

       Scheduling agreements

       Subcontracting orders

       Vendor-managed orders (VMI orders)

       Stock

The system does not change fixed orders, but their shelf life data is taken into consideration in propagation.

You can specify whether you want shelf life propagation to split orders that are consumed by more than one demand. If you do not want propagation to split orders, the most restrictive shelf life requirement of the demands is propagated to the order.

You can modify the way shelf life data is propagated to planned orders, by implementing method PROD_PROPAGATE of the Business Add-In (BAdI) /SAPAPO/SNP_SHLF_PROP

You can define your own logic for finding corresponding demands and receipts (different from dynamic pegging) by implementing method IO_MATCHING of the BAdI /SAPAPO/SNP_SHLF

Activities

To run shelf life propagation, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Advanced Planning and Optimization Supply Network Planning Planning Supply Network Planning in the Background Propagation of Shelf Life Data.

After propagation has finished, you can display the application log. On the SAP Easy Access screen choose Advanced Planning and Optimization Supply Network Planning Reporting Application Logs.
