Managing System Messages
As an administrator you can send short system messages to all the mobile devices to provide the users with important information, such as the dates and times the server is due to be maintained. You can write, edit, activate, deactivate, and delete these messages on the server. The users of the devices then receive these messages during the next synchronization run.
...
1. Start transaction MI_SYNEWS.
2. Write a new message. The text can consist of a maximum of 200 characters.
3. Choose whether you want to activate the message immediately or create a deactivated message. A deactivated message is saved in the system but not sent.
4. If you activate the message, enter the time/date as of which the message will be invalid.
Users who do not synchronize until after this message has become invalid, do not receive it.
5. Choose whether you want the message to be deleted or deactivated when it becomes invalid.
6. Specify whether the message is relevant only for a particular language or whether it is language-independent.
○ If you specify that the message is language-independent the message is sent to all users.
○ If the message is defined as language-dependent it is only sent to those users that have the corresponding language setting. The standard language is predefined.
7. Save your entries.

Deactivated messages are saved on the SAP MI server but are not transferred to the mobile devices.

If you deactivate messages that were already transferred to the mobile devices, the corresponding clients automatically receive an instruction to delete the message on the mobile device.

When the mobile devices are next synchronized, all the active messages are transferred that have the same language setting as the individual users. Language-independent active messages are sent to all mobile devices. The message appears on the mobile device on the SAP MI home page under the menu item System Messages and, depending on the configuration of the device, in a popup window.

Popup windows
are not normally displayed with JSP clients that are not synchronized from the
SAP MI home page. To be able to immediately display the messages in a popup
format, you must configure the mobile device appropriately (parameter
MobileEngine.SystemNews.ShowAWT, see
Parameters for System
Messages).
