Mobilizing Business Processes 

With this IT scenario, you can make your existing and new business processes mobile. Users of mobile devices can be included in automatic business processes with the back end, making manual and paper-based processes redundant. Managers, truck drivers, and warehouse workers are examples of typical users involved in mobile business processes.

You can integrate various back-end systems into your scenario (both SAP and non-SAP systems).

The following variants exist:

• Enabling Mobile Applications for Occasional Connection
• Running Mobile Applications with an Online Connection

With both scenario variants, the mobile device is connected to the back end by means of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server as the middleware. With the offline variant, a connection only exists during the synchronization. In contrast, the online variant involves a permanent connection.
