Integration with IBM
This part of the IT scenario variant aims to introduce you to the different options provided by SAP NetWeaver to integrate and interoperate with IBM Tivoli at the following levels:
...
1. Availability and performance monitoring and log integration.
¡ Tivoli integrates SAP landscapes from a monitoring and availability perspective using several interfaces and SAP management tools, also leveraging the Computing Center Management System (CCMS).
¡ Composite application management.
Allows you to recognize performance problems from an end user perspective and quickly isolate problems in end-to-end transaction scenarios across the enterprise. Prove the transaction service level delivered to the end user and consistently tests and measure their response in a business process perspective.
2. Integration with the Tivoli Workload Scheduler.
Allows you to organize the workflow integrating the SAP NetWeaver applications. For example, this is important when the application has to receive information when a specific job is finished so another work process can start properly.
3. Tivoli Security integration for managing identity and access.
There is a high level of integration of the security provided by SAP NetWeaver and IBM Tivoli Security Portfolio. For example, you can administrate the user account on the SAP system so that the users can logon to the SAP system using Single Sign-On.
4. Tivoli provisioning
Realizes provisioning of services. Provisioning enables third party software tools like IBM Tivoli provisioning to communicate and integrate with Adaptive Computing using the Adaptive Computing Controller Command Interface.
5. Tivoli Storage Solutions.
You can use the fast and reliable backup and recovery solutions for SAP databases and application landscapes with Tivoli Storage Management using latest storage technologies and complete disaster recovery functionalities.
Archiving and document management can also be addressed with the Tivoli Storage Solutions.
You must have installed:
· IBM Tivoli server.
You need the relevant IBM Tivoli products such as IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Application, IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler for Applications, IBM Tivoli Directory Server, IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator, IBM Tivoli Identity Manager, IBM Tivoli Access Manager, and IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager.
· SAP NetWeaver usage type Enterprise Portal (EP).
· SAP NetWeaver usage type Application Server (AS).
You can use the following IT processes:
Process |
Description |
Integrate storage and archiving features |
Reliable backup and recovery of databases for SAP applications with Tivoli Storage Manager for ERP. Split mirror backup and restore for databases on hardware level with Tivoli Storage Manager for Hardware. Connect optical archive and document management systems to SAP to enable storage system retrieving data. IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, and IBM Commonstore. |
Manage end-to-end landscapes |
Availability and performance monitoring with tight integration of the SAP landscapes with Tivoli Monitoring for Application. Certified integration of SAP system management tools, such as CCMS. |
Manage the access and identity interoperability
|
You can consolidate and synchronize user data from the SAP system with data from market-leading Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directories, such as Microsoft Active Directory and IBM Tivoli Directory Server. You can consolidate and synchronize user data from the Central User Administration (CUA) to external user data directories; create, maintain and synchronize user accounts and automate approval workflows with IBM Tivoli Identity Manager and IBM Tivoli Access Manager. Single Sign-On provides consistent and secure access to resources in and out of the SAP environment. Partner products from IBM and Microsoft can utilize SAP logon tickets to authenticate into SAP NetWeaver applications. |
Manage the provisioning and orchestration of services |
Provisioning of services enables third party software components to communicate and integrate with Adaptive Computing (AC) using the AC Controller Command Interface. AC helps IT organizations to start, stop, and relocate virtualized application services to reach a higher level of availability and flexibility of their SAP solutions. |
