Procedure documentation Creating an Interchangeability Group  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this procedure to create an interchangeability group.

Prerequisites

·        You have maintained product and location master records for the products that you want to use in the interchangeability group.

·        You have created a variant assembly in iPPE for the assembly that you want to use in the interchangeability group. For more information, see Assembly.

·        If required, you have defined a reason code in Customizing for Product and Location Interchangeability. To do so, you choose Maintain Reason Code.

·        You have defined the number range in Customizing for Product and Location Interchangeability. To do so, you choose Maintain Number Range for Groups.

·        If required, you have defined new replacement types in Customizing for Product and Location Interchangeability. For more information, see Replacement Type.

·        You have assigned the newly defined replacement types to the desired interchangeability group types in Customizing for Product and Location Interchangeability. For more information, see Replacement Type.

·        If you want to create a restricted interchangeability between FFF classes, you must set the Restr. Interchangeability allowed indicator for the involved FFF classes.

·        If you want to create a location determination alternative procedure, you must set the Relevant for Alternative Procedure indicator for the involved location chains.

Procedure

       1.      From the SAP Easy Access menu, choose Advanced Planning and Optimization Master Data  Application-Specific Master Data Product and Location Interchangeability Maintain Interchangeability Group.

The Interchangeability Groups screen appears.

       2.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Create.

       3.      On the Header Details screen area, choose the desired group type.

       4.      Enter a group number and group description.

Note

If you do not enter a group number, the system automatically assigns a number from the number ranges defined in Customizing for Product and Location Interchangeability. However, you do have to enter a description.

       5.      On the Group Details screen area, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Append Row or This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Insert Row.

       6.      Enter the required data.

Only for supersession chains:

In case of assemblies, you must enter the leading product.

If you want to create a one-to-many, many-to-one, or many-to-many substitution you must create a product combination. To do so, choose the appropriate replacement type and click This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Additional Members. The Member Details area appears where you can add the products for the product combination.

Note

If you want to maintain a location, choose the Location tab on the Header Details screen area and enter a Location and a Location Description.

       7.      In the application toolbar, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Check to carry out the consistency checks on the interchangeability groups as defined in Customizing.

       8.      You can view the error messages and warnings by choosing This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Error Log.

       9.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Analysis Log to see which validations were carried out (see Consistency Checks for Interchangeability Groups).

   10.      Save the interchangeability group by choosing This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Save.
