Tasks Performed Regularly
You execute the following tasks to monitor the processes in the data warehouse as well as the status of the objects.

Monitoring in CCMS |
|
Monitor the BI processes
|
Using the BI monitor in CMMS, the most important scheduling tools in the data warehouse, the process chains, are integrated into CCMS. This integration allows monitoring and proactive altering using process chains and, as a result, using most EDW processes. By double-clicking the process chain, you can call the log view for it. From the log view, you can display additional messages for processes included in the process chain, and call process monitors, such as the extraction monitor. More information:
If you want to receive automatic notification of CCMS
alerts and do not want to have to check the status manually in the BI monitor

Monitoring the consistency checks of the analysis and repair environment |
Using the BI monitor in CCMS, you can check whether alerts are triggered when consistency checks are carried out on metadata and data from the analysis and repair environment. More information:
For information on how you can be automatically kept
informed using CCMS alerts, see

Availability monitoring for UD Connect |
You can monitor the availability of the SAP J2EE Engine using the CCMS Alert Monitor. Availability monitoring is performed using the Generic Request and Message Generator (GRMG). If the availability check fails, an alert is triggered in the central monitoring system. To check whether alerts have been triggered, in CCMS Alert Monitor (transaction RZ20) choose SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors → System / All Monitoring Segments / All Monitoring Contexts SAP_CCMS_<Application Server>_<SID>_<System Number> System / All Monitoring Segments / All Monitoring Contexts → SAP_CCMS_<Application Server>_<SID>_<System Number>. The messages are shown under the node GRMG: BI.UDC: v1.0.0. %SID:%HOST (replace %SID and %HOST with the values for your server). For information on how to configure availability monitoring, see SAP NetWeaver Customizing at Business Intelligence → UDI Settings by Purpose → Install Availability Monitoring for UD Connect in CCMS. For information on how you can be automatically kept
informed using CCMS alerts, see

Monitoring in the Administration Cockpit |
|
Monitor runtimes and the status of BI processes |
You can execute the following monitoring tasks in the Administration Cockpit: ● Display the runtime statistics for query views, Web templates, Web items, BEx workbooks and InfoProviders ● Display the runtime statistics for data load processes (InfoPackages and data transfer processes), process chains, and processes in process chains ● Display the status of requests in BI objects and of processes and process chains You can call further analysis functions from the context menu. The data displayed in the Administration Cockpit is based on the technical content for BI statistics. In Query Designer, you can define threshold values (exceptions) for user-defined or delivered queries for technical content. Using information broadcasting, you can forward a document to system administration when a lower or upper threshold value is exceeded. This enables you to trigger alerts and forward them to the Universal Worklist (UWL). More information:

Additional Monitoring Tasks |
|
Check the BI delta queue |
The delta queue is a data store for change records in the source system. In the delta queue for a DataSource, you can check whether and how much data it contains. For DataSources that support generic deltas, you can display the current value of the delta-relevant field in the delta queue. More information:
|
Monitor data requests and data processing for real-time data acquisition |
The monitor for real-time data acquisition displays requests for InfoPackages and requests for data transfer processes, together with their status. You can navigate to the relevant request monitor to display detailed information. More information:
|
Display structure and status of aggregates or BI accelerator indexes Check aggregates and BI accelerator indexes |
More information: Status Display and Check Tools |
Monitor BI log files |
The log files can be found in the Log Viewer under ./log/Application/BI/*. More information: Monitoring and Displaying Log Files |
Display and evaluate BI logs in the application log |
You can find BI logs in the application log (transaction SLG1) if you select RS* or BW* as the object. More information:

Description |
Can Be Called Using CCMS |
Can Be Called Using Administration Cockpit |
Check process chain runs |
More information:
|
Yes When you double-click the progress of a process chain in the BI monitor in CCMS, the system displays the log view of the process chain maintenance. You can check the process chain here. |
Yes On the Process Status or Process Chain Statistics page when you choose the corresponding entry in the context menu of one of the monitors for the process chain run, the system calls the log view for process chain maintenance. You can check the process chain here. |
Monitor data requests (PSA requests) |
PSA requests and their data processing in BI are monitored using the extraction monitor. More information:
|
Yes The call can be made using the log for a process chain run. |
Yes The call can be made using the log for a process chain run. |
Monitor data transfer processes (DTP requests) |
DTP requests and their data processing in BI are monitored using the DTP monitor. More information:
|
Yes The call can be made using the log for a process chain run. |
Yes On the DTP Statistics page when you choose the corresponding entry in the context menu of one of the monitors for the DTP run, the system calls the DTP monitor. You use this to check the DTP run. The call can also be made using the log for a process chain run. |
Monitor change runs |
Using this task, you can monitor hierarchy and attribute change runs for aggregates and BI accelerator indexes. More information:

Yes The call can be made using the log for a process chain run. |
Yes The call can be made using the log for a process chain run. |
3.x data flow: Monitor open hub requests |
When you activate and execute an InfoSpoke, a request is generated. This request is displayed in the open hub monitor where you can check the status. You can call the open hub monitor in the Administration functional area of the Data Warehousing Workbench under Monitors. More information:

Manage InfoProviders |
The administration for InfoProviders allows you to trace the status of a request in an InfoProvider and verify the InfoProvider contents. You can call administration for an InfoProvider in the object tree in the Data Warehousing Workbench by choosing Manage in the context menu for the InfoProvider. More information:
|
No |
Yes On the BI Object Request Status, InfoProvider Status, or InfoProvider Statistics page when you choose the corresponding entry in the context menu of one of the monitors for an InfoProvider, the system calls InfoProvider administration. You can check the process chain here. |
