Scheduling an Interactive Log
Backup
Schedule regular log backups by activating automatic log backups.
If you do not
activate automatic log backups, check that there is enough memory in the log
area (Monitoring the Log Area, (OLTP/
liveCache)) at
regular intervals, and backup the log entries immediately, if necessary. You
can schedule and execute an interactive log backup in the DBA Planning
Calendar.
Setting Up and Using the DBA Planning Calendar
...
1. Follow the scheduling concept.
2. Open the DBA Planning Calendar.
3. To schedule interactive log backups, proceed as described in Scheduling an Action.Use the following action:
Log backup: When you make a log backup, you copy the contents of the log area (log entries) into backup files or back them up using a backup tool from another provider.
Specify a file as the data carrier.
If you need to make an immediate backup of the log area, see Starting an Action Immediately.
The required backup is scheduled. Check the schedules of the interactive log backups.

Before a scheduled backup action is due to start, make sure that the volumes have been inserted and are ready to run.
The interactive log backup is started at the specified time, and the log segments are copied to the backup files.
Archive older backup files regularly to other backup devices. If you are using a third-party backup tool, you can automate this procedure. Follow the procedure described in Archiving Backup Files.
Check the results
of the log backups in the DBA Planning Calendar, as described in Displaying
Actions. Use the information displayed in the DBA History. Also
use the Log Area display in the Database, or in the liveCache Alert
Monitor (OLTP/
liveCache).
