Configure Traces and Logs for HTTP
Communication
You can configure the J2EE Engine to generate HTTP traces and logs that assist you in troubleshooting any HTTP communication issues that you might face, or, for example, to generate information about user access to your Web site. Using the different configuration options, you can choose between different levels of detail of the information that is logged.
To configure the generation of HTTP traces and logs, you use the Visual Administrator tool to modify the corresponding properties of the HTTP Provider Service.
You can configure the following types of troubleshooting information for the HTTP communication:
Using this procedure you configure the J2EE Engine to trace the HTTP requests and responses.
· Tracing HTTP Requests Using Session Tracing
Configure HTTP request tracing using the session tracing function of the Performance Tracing service.
Using this set of procedures you configure the J2EE Engine to log information either in Common Log File format, or in its proprietary log format.

Activating the generation of logging or tracing information generally degrades the performance of the HTTP communication. Therefore you should consider this trade-off carefully when you configure logging and tracing, especially on productive systems.
